PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor EDWARD WILLIAM STAFFORD, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand.

WHEREAS, by a Proclamation in the Government Gazette, dated the fourth day of October, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-four, it was appointed that the Provincial Council should meet for the despatch of business, at Nelson, on Tuesday, the fourteenth day of November instant: AND WHEREAS it is expedient that the said Council should be prorogued until Thursday, the 23d November instant: NOW THEREFORE I, the Superintendent of Nelson, in virtue of the powers and authority vested in me in that behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that I have this day prorogued the Provincial Council until Thursday, the Twenty-third day of November instant, at twelve o'clock at noon.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province, at Nelson, this seventh day of November, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty-four.

GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!

November 7, 1854.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the undermentioned portion of the Waste Lands of the Crown, within the Province of Nelson, as herein-after described, has been RESERVED for the purposes of a Quarantine Ground, viz.:—

The island situate at the south end of Blind Bay, known as "Rabbit Island," bounded on the north by the coast line, and on the east, south, and west by the eastern and western mouths of the river Waimea; containing about 2,600 acres.

HIS Honor the Superintendent acknowledges the receipt, for transmission to England, of the undermentioned Sums, collected in aid of the Wives and Families of the British Forces engaged in the Russian War, viz.:—
