PUBLISHED BY AUTHORITY.

All Public Notifications which appear in this Gazette, with any Official Signature thereunto annexed, are to be considered as Official Communications made to those Persons to whom they may relate, and are to be obeyed accordingly.

PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor EDWARD WILLIAM STAFFORD, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, in the Islands of New Zealand, &c., &c.

WHEREAS His Excellency the Officer administering the Government hath proclaimed that a Public Day of Solemn Fast, Humiliation, and Prayer—which hath by Her Majesty's command been observed in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland—should in like manner and with the same object be observed throughout the Islands of New Zealand, that is to say, throughout certain Provinces of the said Islands on such day as may be named for that purpose by the Superintendent of each of the said Provinces respectively: Now therefore I, the Superintendent of the Province of Nelson, do hereby Proclaim and Declare that a Public Day of Solemn Fast, Humiliation, and Prayer, be observed throughout the Province of Nelson, on Friday, the 1st day of September next.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Nelson, at Nelson, this nineteenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-four.
