PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor, Arthur Penrose Seymour, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Marlborough, in the Colony of New Zealand,

WHEREAS, by "The Gold Fields Act, 1866," the Governor is empowered to make Regulations for any Gold Field, and to alter and revoke the same: And whereas, by a Warrant under the hand of His Excellency the Governor bearing date the Fourth day of May, 1870, the said recited power within the Province of Marlborough was delegated to me, Arthur Penrose Seymour, as Superintendent of the said Province:

And whereas it is expedient to make the following addition to the Regulations in force in the Gold Fields of the said Province:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur Penrose Seymour, the Superintendent as aforesaid, do hereby make the following addition to the Regulations of the said Gold Fields, and do declare that the same shall take effect on and after the First day of February, 1874:β€”

PROSPECTING AREA.

The Warden, on application being made to him, may, if he think fit, grant protection for a Prospecting Area in ground not exceeding Forty Acres, provided always that not less than two men be constantly employed thereon, and such protection shall continue in force until the ground abandoned for forty-eight hours, provided that the certificate of protection shall be brought to the Warden for renewal every three months. All such Areas shall be marked out as directed by the Warden.

Given under my hand, and issued under the Public Seal of the Province of Marlborough, at Blenheim, this Twenty-seventh day of January, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.
