THE Warden of the Wairau Gold Field having reported that the Lessees of the undermentioned Lands have failed to comply with the provisions of Section 17 of the Gold Mining Lease Regulations in force in the Marlborough Gold Fields; It is hereby notified that His Honor the Superintendent has declared the Leases of the said Lands forfeited, and the claims open to be taken up by other persons:—

In the Wairau Gold Field:

  • The Golden Gate Gold Mining Company's Claim, 16a 1r 4p.
  • The Marlborough Gold Mining Company's Claim, 16a 2r 3p.
  • The Marlborough Golden Crown Quartz Mining Company's Claim, 13a 2r 13p.
  • The Morning Star Gold Mining Company's Claim, 13a 3r 25p.
  • The Homeward Bound Company's Claim, 16a 2r 4p.
  • The Masculine Gold Mining Company's Claim, 16a 2r 4p.
  • The Blenheim Gold Mining Company's Claim, 16a 2r 4p.

THE following Applications for Pastoral Leases have been received by me, in accordance with “The Marlborough Waste Lands Act, 1867”:

William Soper — District of Wairau West. Boundaries — North and West by the Wairau River from the Eastern boundary of Section 126, to opposite the middle of Section 93; Southward by a Public Road forming the Northern boundary of Sections 76, 84, and 93; Eastward by the Eastern boundary of Section 126, as the same is shewn on the Plan deposited with this application. Estimated extent, 170 acres; Deposit paid, £2.

Joseph Ward — District of Clarence. Boundaries — Towards the North by Southern boundary of Warden Runs Nos. 2 and 3, commencing at a point on Southern boundary of Warden Run No. 3, 128 chains from South East corner of said run; thence along said Southern boundary for a distance of 325 chains; thence towards the West by a right line to Mount Clear; thence towards the South by Northern Boundary of Shearing Reserve A; thence towards the East by a right line to starting point. Extent, 2900 acres; Deposit paid, £6.

WRIT OF FI. FA.

WHEREAS by Deed of Mortgage bearing date the Twentieth day of December, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, Thomas Carter conveyed the Lands hereinafter mentioned unto Samuel Hellier Pike, of the City of Nelson, Gentleman, the Defendant in the above action, subject to redemption on payment of the sum of Nine Thousand Four Hundred Pounds (£9400), as follows, namely:

  • The sum of Three Thousand Pounds on the first day of January, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine; and the sum of Six Thousand Four Hundred Pounds on the first day of January, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-six, with interest thereon at the rate of Ten Pounds per centum per annum, payable yearly on every first day of January, whereof the said sum of Three Thousand Pounds only has been paid off the sum of Six Thousand Four Hundred Pounds, and interest from the first day of January last remains owing thereon;

And whereas by Deed bearing date the twenty-first day of December, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, the said Samuel Hellier Pike mortgaged the said sum of Nine Thousand Four Hundred Pounds and interest unto Nathaniel Edwards, George Bennett, and John Symons, to secure the balance of his account with them, and the said sum of Six Thousand Four Hundred Pounds and interest now remains mortgaged to the said John Symons alone, as a security for the balance of the said account current, which now amounts to above the sum of Four Thousand Pounds.

And whereas I, the undersigned Sheriff of the Marlborough District of New Zealand, have taken in execution and entered upon the Real and Personal Estate of the said Samuel Hellier Pike, the Defendant.
