THE following Bye Law of the Council of the Borough of Blenheim is published in compliance with Clause 191 of "The Municipal Corporations Act, 1867."

REGULATIONS
passed by the Blenheim Borough Council, January 18, 1870, under the 13th Schedule of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1867:—
- Under Part 1.
REGULATION FOR PORTICOS, PROJECTIONS, etc.
That the height, shape, and material shall be in every case determined by the Council.
- Under Section 26, Part 1.
CROSSINGS OVER FOOTPATHS.
That in all places where there is a crossing over footpaths, there shall be a curb not less than six inches above the water-table, and a four-inch drain shall be put in the water-table previous to filling up.
- Under Section 3, Part 7.
BURNING MATERIALS.
That shavings, straw, or any other inflammable material, shall not be burnt within forty feet of any road, street, or building.
- Under Section 6, Part 8.
SLAUGHTER-HOUSES.
That the slaughter-houses within the Borough shall be kept in a clean state, and no filth shall be allowed to remain more than twenty-four hours, under the penalty provided in Regulations.
- Under Section 88, Part 10.
LICENSING PEDDLERS AND HAWKERS.
That all persons not resident in the Borough who shall carry or expose goods of every description for sale (subject to the following exception, viz., farm produce, and every article grown or produced in the Province of Marlborough) shall be deemed a hawker within the meaning of this Regulation.
That all hawkers shall take out a license, and pay for the same to the Borough Council the sum of two pounds ten shillings every six months in advance. Licenses to be dated from the first days of January and July, and terminate on the thirtieth days of June and thirty-first days of December in each year.
