WARRANT CONSTITUTING ELECTORAL DISTRICT OF PICTON A PETTY SESSIONAL DISTRICT UNDER PETTY SESSIONS ACT, 1858.

By His Excellency Colonel Thomas Gore Browne, Companion of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its dependencies, and Vice Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS, by the “Petty Sessions Act, 1858,” the Governor is empowered from time to time, by notice in the New Zealand Gazette, to constitute Petty Sessional Districts in any part of the Colony, and such Districts to abolish and the boundaries thereof to define and alter as he shall think fit:

Now, I, Thomas Gore Browne, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby constitute that portion of the Province of Marlborough which forms the Electoral District of Picton for the election of Members of the House of Representatives, to be a Petty Sessional District under the said Act, and I do hereby notify the same accordingly.

Given under my hand, at Government House, at Auckland, this Sixth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.

NOTICE TO MARINERS.

QUEEN CHARLOTTE’S SOUND.

A black buoy, surmounted by a red beacon, with “Luke Rock” painted thereon, has been placed (temporarily) off the rock bearing that name.

The buoy bears (mag.) as follows:—
From Point Dieffenbach N.W. ½ N., ½ mile
Points forming Fly Bay—East, S. by W., ½ W.; West, E. ¾ N.
Bearing of Luke Rock from buoy, N.W. about one-fifth of a mile.

This rock being of great extent, strangers are cautioned against standing into Fly Bay, between the buoy and bearings given.

PROCLAMATION

By WILLIAM ADAMS, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Marlborough.

IN pursuance of the power vested in me as Superintendent of the Province of Marlborough, to declare any House, Building, Enclosure, or Place to be a Public Gaol within such province, I do hereby proclaim and declare that the Building lately erected and known as the Gaol, in the Town of Picton, in the said Province of Marlborough, shall be a Public Gaol.
