IT is notified, for general information, that I have appointed
CHARLES CANNING, ESQUIRE,
one of the Auditors of the Provincial Accounts for the Year ending June 30th, 1861.

IT is notified that the undermentioned portions of the Waste Lands of the Crown within the Province of Marlborough, as hereinafter described, have been RESERVED, in order that they may be laid out in Suburban Sections, and sold as such, in accordance with the provisions of the Land Regulations, 1856 :—
All unsold land on either side of the Tua Marina river, as laid down on the map of the Waitohi Valley.

WAIRAU RIVER MOUTH.

DIRECTIONS.

Vessels running for the bar.—Open the harbour well, with the flag-staff in view.

Flag at mast head.—Take the bar.
Flag half-mast.—Keep out.
Flag half-mast, and flag N.W. yardarm.—Run to Port Underwood.
Flag half-mast, and flag S.E. yardarm.—Anchor.

IN TAKING THE BAR.

Whatever way the ball moves on the yard, put the vessel’s head the same way.
Ball at either end of yardarm, give the vessel a broad sheer the same way.
When the ball remains at either yardarm, keep the vessel the same way until removed.
As the ball gradually moves towards either yardarm, sheer the vessel gradually the same way.
Ball hauled in midships, steady as you go.
