PROCLAMATION.

By JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Islands of New Zealand.

WHEREAS by the “Hawke’s Bay Special Settlements Act, 1872,” it is enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, for the time being of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, by proclamation in the Government Gazette of the said Province, to set apart out of the waste lands of the Crown in blocks of said Province, one or more block or blocks of land, not exceeding in the whole twenty thousand acres, for the purpose of sale on deferred payments, under the said Act; and to fix the price at which such land shall be sold.

Now, therefore I, JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, the Superintendent for the time being of the said Province of Hawke’s Bay, in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me, do hereby proclaim that all parcel of land situate in the Seventy-Mile Bush, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, being a portion of the Maharahara Block, and containing by admeasurement two thousand (2000) acres, more or less: bounded towards the east and south-east by the Oringi Waiaruhe Block, 1575 links, 7260 links, and 10,800 links. Towards the north-east by the Tahoriti Block No. 1, 2640 links, 2733 links, and 875 links. Towards the north by a portion of the Maharahara Block, being a line running westerly from Manawatatua on the western boundary of Tahoraiti Block No. 1, a distance of 10,500 links. Towards the west by a portion of the Maharahara Block, a line running southerly a distance of 20,000 links; and towards the south by the Northern Boundary of the Ahuaturinga Block, 8500 links, is set apart out of the Waste Lands of the Crown in the said Province for the purpose of Special Settlements, in terms of Part 2 of the said Act relating to Special Settlements; and that the price of the said land be twenty shillings per acre.

Dated at Napier this 2nd day of October, in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy-six.
