Napier, January 17, 1876.

His Worship the Mayor begs to give notice that at a meeting of the Municipal Council, to be held on the 3rd February, 1876, he will move:

1st. That a special rate of one shilling in the £ be levied upon all such property as is comprised within the area marked end on the plan of the town, the original of which is now lying in the Engineer’s Office, and a copy of the same at the Town Clerk’s Office, Napier.

2nd. That the sum of Ten Thousand Pounds (£10,000) be borrowed, in accordance with “The Napier Municipal Council Empowering and Waterworks Loan Act, 1875,” for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the scheme for supplying portions of the Borough of Napier with water, approved of by the Council, and that the said sum be borrowed by the Corporation on the security of the rate to be struck on the 3rd February, 1876; and that the Corporation issue debentures in sums of £100 each with coupons attached, such debentures to be for a period of fourteen years, bearing interest at the rate of 8 per cent. per annum, payable half-yearly; the principal and interest to be payable in cash, in Napier. That sealed tenders for the said loan be advertised for in the principal papers in New Zealand. Tenders to be sent in on or before the 29th day of February, 1876, to be considered at a meeting of the Municipal Council, to be holden on the 2nd day of March, 1876. The highest or any tender not necessarily accepted.
