It is hereby notified that the following apportionment of the General Government Road Board vote for the current year has been authorised:—

The following are the Regulations prescribed by the General Government whereby the payment of Grants to Road Boards will be made:—

The money will be remitted to the credit of the Road Board Account, at the Bank, in three equal instalments, on the 1st December, 1st February, and 1st April; and the Bank will be instructed to honor the cheques of the Provincial Treasurer on that account, countersigned by the Provincial Auditor.

The Superintendent will notify to the Chairman of each Road or District Board the total amount of the grant allotted to the District—the works on which it is to be expended—the sum authorised in respect of each—and the amount available for the purposes of the Board on the above dates.

The Chairman will make a requisition, countersigned by another member of the Board, upon the Provincial Treasurer, which requisition will be satisfied by cheques drawn and countersigned as above stated, to the extent of the instalments as they become available, provided that they are for moneys to be expended on any of the works comprised in the authorised scheme. The persons signing such requisition are to give therein an undertaking that the sum asked for shall be expended on the work therein specified, and on no other.

The Provincial Treasurer on receiving any such requisition, and on being satisfied that the moneys asked for are for works authorised as above, will approve the requisition and forward it with his cheque on the “Road Board Account” to the Provincial Auditor, who, on similarly satisfying himself, and finding that the
