WHEREAS by "The Hawke’s Bay Special Settlements Act, 1872,"
it is enacted that it shall be lawful for
the Superintendent, for the time being,
of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, with
the consent of the Provincial Council,
from time to time, by proclamation in
the Government Gazette of the said province,
to set apart out of the waste lands of the Crown, in the said province,
one or more block or blocks of land, not
exceeding in the whole twenty thousand
acres, for the purpose of sale on deferred
payments under the said Act, and to fix
the price at which such lands shall be
sold.
And whereas the Provincial Council
of Hawke’s Bay has, by resolution, con-
curred in setting apart a block of land
hereinafter described, and the price at
which the same shall be sold.
Now, therefore, I, John Davies Or-
mond, the Superintendent, for the
time being, of the said Province of
Hawke’s Bay, in pursuance of the power
and authority vested in me, and with the
consent aforesaid, do hereby proclaim
that all that block of land, estimated to
contain eight thousand acres, situate be-
tween the Makaretu and Tuki Tuki
rivers, bounded on the North by the
Tuki Tuki river, on the East by the line
of purchased lands between the rivers
Tuki Tuki and Makaretu, on the South
by the river Makaretu, and on the West
by a line running along the spurs of the
Ruahine mountains, so as to include
8,000 acres, is set apart out of the waste
lands of the Crown, in the said province,
for the purpose of sale on deferred pay-
ments, in terms of the said Act, and
that the price of the said land shall be
ten shillings per acre,

It is hereby notified, for public in-
formation, that the land set apart
by proclamation under "The Hawke’s
Bay Special Settlements Act, 1872,"
for the purpose of sale on deferred pay-
ments, and situate between the Makaretu
and Tuki Tuki rivers, estimated to con-
tain 8,000 acres, is now available, and
will be opened for occupation when
applied for. The price of the land will
be ten shillings per acre, payment being
spread over five years; 200 acres is the
largest, and 40 acres the smallest, block
a settler can purchase.

Crown Lands Office, Napier.
