PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor John Davies Ormond, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS under the provisions of the “Highways Act, 1871,” passed by the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay, it is provided that the Superintendent may, for the purposes of the Act, from time to time, by proclamation, divide the Province or any part thereof into districts, and in like manner to alter and amend the names or boundaries of, or abolish any districts, and to create new districts; and that it is expedient to alter and amend the districts formerly known as North Ruataniwha District, Kereru and Aorangi District, and Raukawa District, and to create Districts in lieu thereof:
Now, therefore, I, JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the Proclamations, dated the 7th day of March, 1871, shall, so far as regards the Districts therein created, called the North Ruataniwha District and Kereru and Aorangi District, be rescinded, as from the date hereof; also that the Proclamation, dated the 15th day of April, 1872, shall, so far as regards the District therein created, called the Raukawa District, be rescinded, as from the date hereof. And I do further declare and proclaim that every of the several areas of land described in the Schedule to this Proclamation, as the boundaries hereof, and severally laid down in each Schedule, shall form a separate Highway District, under the respective names of the North Ruataniwha District, Kereru and Aorangi District, and Raukawa District, within the terms and meaning of the said “Highways Act, 1871.”

SCHEDULE.
North Ruataniwha District.
Starts at the junction of the Maraekakaho with the Ettrick, and follows up the latter stream to its source; thence by a straight line to the Manga-o-nuku at the junction of Messrs. M’Lean, Carlyon, and Smith’s properties, and follows up the Maraekakaho to its source; thence along the North Eastern boundary of Messrs. Carlyon’s run to the Kereru Bush; thence along Major Carlyon’s boundary to the Mangamauku; thence up that stream to its source at Mangamauku saddle; thence due West to the North branch of the Waipawa, and down that stream to the junction with the South branch; thence down the Waipawa river to its junction with the Manga-o-nuku, and up that stream to the boundary of Mr. T. Mason’s run at the Karawa creek; thence along Masons East boundary to the North-Western extremity of Block No. 140, Ruataniwha District; thence on a straight line nearly due North to the Maraekakaho at the junction of Messrs. M’Lean and Mason’s properties, and down the Maraekakaho to the starting point at the junction with the Ettrick.
Kereru and Aorangi District.
Starts at the junction of the Maraekakaho with the Ettrick, and follows up the latter stream to its source; thence by a straight line to the Manga-o-nuku at the junction of the properties of Messrs. M’Lean, Carlyon, and Smith, and follows up the Maraekakaho to its source; thence along the North boundary of Major Carlyon’s run to the Kereru Bush; thence along Major Carlyon’s boundary to the Mangamauku; thence up that stream to its source at Mangamauku saddle; thence due West to the North branch of the Waipawa, and up that stream to its source; thence by a line due West to the Western boundary of the Province, and along that boundary to the gorge of the Ngaruroro, and down that river to the mouth of the Maungatai stream, and thence by a straight line to the starting point at the junction of the Maraekakaho with the Ettrick.
The Raukawa District.
Starts on the Te Aute road at the North boundary of the Koparakore Block, follows the boundary of that Block to the Mangaroa Block, and along the Southern boundary of that Block to the Raukawa East Block; thence along the Northern boundary of that Block, and of the Raukawa West Block, to the Maraekakaho Block; thence along the East boundary of that Block to the boundary between Messrs. M’Lean and Mason’s; thence along that boundary to the Maraekakaho, and up that stream to the Raukawa West Block, and along the West boundary of that Block to the Onepu West Block; thence along the Southern boundary of that Block, and of the Onepu East, and Teipuotaraia Block, to the Northern boundary of the Te Aute College land, and down that boundary to the Te Aute road, and by that road to the starting point.
