PROCLAMATION.

By His Honor John Davies Ormond,
Superintendent of the Province of
Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of
New Zealand.

WHEREAS under the provisions of the “Highways Act, 1871,” passed by the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay, it is provided that the Superintendent may, for the purposes of the Act, from time to time, by proclamation, divide the Province or any part thereof into districts, and in like manner to alter and amend the names or boundaries of or abolish any districts, and to create new districts, and that it is expedient to alter and amend the districts formerly known as Waipukurau East and Waipukurau West, and to create districts in lieu thereof, which shall hereafter be known as the Waipukurau District and the South Ruataniwha District.

Now, therefore, I, John Davies Ormond, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the proclamation, dated the 15th day of April, 1872, shall, so far as regards the district therein created, called the district of Waipukurau East and district of Waipukurau West, be rescinded, as from the date hereof; and I do further declare and proclaim that every of the several areas of land described in the Schedule to this Proclamation as the boundaries hereof are severally laid down in each Schedule, shall form a separate Highway District, under the respective names of the Waipukurau District and the South Ruataniwha District, within the terms and meaning of the said “Highways Act, 1872.”

Waipukurau District,
Lately described as Waipukurau East District, commences at the junction of the Mangataratara with the Tuki Tuki; follows up the Mangataratara to its junction with the Tangitupara; up that stream to the Hapuku line; along that line in a Westerly direction to the Maraekiki; down that stream to its junction with the Makaretu; down that river to its junction with the Tuki Tuki, and down that river to the starting point at the mouth of the Mangataratara.

South Ruataniwha District,
Lately described as Waipukurau West District, commences at the junction of the Maraekiki with the Tuki Tuki; follows up the Maraekiki to the intersection of the Hapuku line; along that line in a Westerly direction to the Forty Mile Bush, at Takapau; thence along the edge of the Bush to the Makaretu River; up that river to the South-West corner of block 181, Ruataniwha District; thence along the Western boundary of that block, and by a straight line due North to the Tuki Tuki, and down that river to the starting point at the mouth of the Maraekiki.

Given under my hand and seal of the Province of Hawke’s Bay this 5th day of October, 1872.

J. D. ORMOND,
Superintendent.
