  1. Should any Health Officer find that sickness exists or has recently been on board any vessel in quarantine, under the last regulation, such Health Officer shall forthwith place the sick, or such of the passengers or crew as he may deem necessary, together with any persons who may have been exposed to the infection, in lazaret, until such measures as they may have prescribed for cleansing, purifying, and disinfecting such vessel and the passengers and crew thereof, and the goods therein have been carried out.

  2. Such Health Officer shall forthwith report to the Board of Health of the port whenever he places any such vessel in quarantine, under the last regulation.

  3. The Board of Health for such port, or a majority of them, shall have authority to detain any such vessel as aforesaid in quarantine, or the crew or passengers thereof.
