PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS under the provisions of the "District Highways Act, 1856," Session 3, No. 4, of the Province of Wellington, and now in force in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, it is provided that the Superintendent may, for the purposes of the said Act, from time to time, by proclamation, divide the province, or any part thereof, into districts. And whereas it is expedient to bring certain districts in the Province of Hawke’s Bay under the operations of the said Act.
Now, therefore, I, JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that that portion of the province situate within the limits hereinafter specified, shall form and constitute a District for the purposes of the "District Highways Act, 1856," viz. :-
Turiroa District.
Starting at the easternmost corner of section 9, Turiroa reserve, on the Wairoa river; thence following along the south-eastern boundary of that section, and of sections Nos. 10 and 11 to the southernmost corner of section No. 11; thence along the southwestern boundary of that section to the south-eastern boundary of section 12; thence along that boundary to the eastern boundary of section No. 27; thence following along that boundary and the eastern boundary of sections Nos. 33 and 35 to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence along the southern boundary of the same section, and of section No. 36, to the south-western corner thereof; thence following along the western boundary of the same section, and of section No. 34, to the southern boundary of section No. 31; thence along the southern and western boundaries of that section, and the western boundary of sections Nos. 30 and 26, to the north-western corner of section No. 26; thence along the northern boundary of that section to the westernmost corner of section No. 24; thence following along the north-western boundary of that section, and of section No. 22, to the north-western corner of section No. 20; thence following along the northern boundary of sections Nos. 20, 18, and 37, to the north-eastern corner of section No. 37; thence along the north-eastern boundary of that section, and of sections No. 13, to the Huramua stream; thence following down that stream to the Wairoa river; thence following down that river to the commencing point at the easternmost corner of section No. 9.

Commencing from the junction of the Kereru and Hampden roads (opposite Mr. A. M’Lean’s residence) running in a straight line to the mouth of the Maungatai stream, following the Ngaruroro to the western boundary of the Province, thence to the source of the Waipawa river, thence in a straight line to the point where the properties of Messrs. Smith, Carlyon, and Nelson meet, thence down the Kereru road to the starting-point.
Given under my hand and seal of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, this 7th day of March, 1871.
