PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor John Davies Ormond, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS under the provisions of the "District Highways Act, 1856," Session 3, No. 4, of the Province of Wellington, and now in force in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, it is provided that the Superintendent may, for the purposes of the said Act, from time to time, by proclamation, divide the province, or any part thereof, into districts. And whereas it is expedient to bring certain districts in the Province of Hawke’s Bay under the operation of the said Act.
Now, therefore, I, JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that that portion of the province situate within the limits hereinafter specified, shall form and constitute a District for the purposes of the "District Highways Act, 1856," viz. :—
Puketapu District.
Starting from the junction of the Pakiaka creek with the Tutaekuri river; up the Tutaekuri river to the fence known as Nonus Smith’s, near the junction of the Mangaone river with the Tutaekuri river; thence along that fence to its termination; thence following a straight line to the westernmost corner of Block 75; thence northerly along the fence between Messrs. Burnet and Whitmore to the northern boundary of Block 65; thence following that boundary to the north-western boundary of Block 75; thence following the north-western and north-eastern boundary of that Block to the north-western boundary of the Waerangi Native Reserve; thence following that boundary to the Ahuriri lagoon; thence following the edge of the said lagoon to the boundary of the Meanee Suburban Sections; thence following the western boundary line of the Meanee Suburban Sections to the northern boundary of Block 2; thence following that boundary to the eastern boundary of Block 52; thence following the eastern, northern, and western boundary lines of that Block to the Pakiaka creek; thence down that creek to the starting point at its junction with the Tutaekuri river.
Meanee District.
Starting from the mouth of the Tutaekuri river, in the Ahuriri lagoon, up that river to the western boundary of Block 1, Puketapu district; thence following the western boundary line of that Block to the north-west corner thereof; thence following the boundary...
