PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS under the provisions of the "District Highways Act, 1856," Session 3, No. 4, of the Province of Wellington, and now in force in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, it is provided that the Superintendent may, for the purposes of the said Act, from time to time, by proclamation, divide the province, or any part thereof, into districts. And whereas it is expedient to bring certain districts in the Province of Hawke’s Bay under the operations of the said Act.
Now, therefore, I, JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in virtue of the powers vested in me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that that portion of the province situate within the limits herein-after specified, shall form and constitute a District for the purposes of the "District Highways Act, 1856," viz. :-
North Ruataniwha District.
Commencing at the Eastern boundary of the Tikokino native reserve, on the Waipawa river; following along that boundary and the Eastern boundary of the Tikokino rural sections, and Town of Hampden, to the Mangamauku river; thence following down that river to its junction with the Mangaonuku river; down that river to the Eastern boundary of Mason’s run; thence following the Eastern, Southern, and Eastern boundaries of Mason’s run, and the Eastern boundary of D. M’Lean’s run to its junction with the Maraekakaho river; following up that river to the Eastern boundary of the Kereru road district (opposite Mr. A. M’Lean’s residence); thence following that boundary southerly to the junction of the Kereru and Hampden roads; thence following the Kereru road and Southern boundary of the Kereru road district to the source of the Waipawa river; thence following down that river to the commencing point at the Eastern boundary of the Tikokino native reserve.

I, JOHN DAVIES ORMOND, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, do hereby notify that the names of the Board of Wardens and Chairman elected under the provisions of the District Highways Act, 1856, of the North Ruataniwha District, are as under.

CHAIRMAN—Gwvas Carlyon.
WARDENS—G. Carlyon, R. Stokes, A. M’Lean, H. M’Lean, J. Mathers.
