actual service such militia force, or such part or number thereof as the Governor or such deputy shall judge necessary, and in such manner as shall to him seem best, and to lead the said forces into any part of the district in which such militia shall have been raised.

Now, know ye that I, Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers vested in me by the said Act, do hereby appoint his Honor John Davies Ormond, Esq., my deputy for the purpose of exercising all the powers which may be exercised by the deputy of the Governor appointed under the above recited provisions of the said Act.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the most distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, at the Government House at Auckland, this fifth day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

IT IS HEREBY NOTIFIED for public information, that JOHN THOMAS TYLEE is appointed Acting Provincial Treasurer during the absence of Captain Carter, who is on sick leave. Appointment to take effect from the 1st inst.
