A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Native Lands Frauds Prevention Act, 1870,” it is enacted that the Governor in Council may, by Proclamation in that behalf, from time to time define districts to be called Native Trust Districts, and bring the same under the operation of the said Act;

Now therefore, His Excellency the Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, and in exercise of the power vested in him by the said Act, doth hereby proclaim and declare the Province of Hawke’s Bay to be a Native Trust District under the said Act, by the name of

THE HAWKE’S BAY DISTRICT.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, at the Government House, at Wellington; and issued under the Public Seal of the said Colony, this twentieth day of September, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

IN pursuance of the power vested in me by the provisions of “The Native Lands Frauds Prevention Act, 1870,” the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do, by this Warrant under my hand, appoint

JOHN CHILTON LAMPTON CARTER, of Napier, Esq.,

to be a Trust Commissioner for the Hawke’s Bay District, under the said Act.

Given under the hand of His Excellency Sir George Ferguson Bowen, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, at Wellington, this twentieth day of September, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.
