The following extract from a supplementary Despatch from Lieutenant-Colonel Whitmore, commanding Militia and Volunteers in the Napier District, is published for general information.
J. C. RICHMOND,
(in the absence of the Defence Minister.)
Napier, 18th November, 1866.
Sir,—I have the honor to inform you that in the hurry of the moment I most unintentionally omitted, in my Despatch to His Honor the Agent for the General Government, to thank Captain Fitzgerald, commanding No. 1 Company, Napier Militia, for the assistance he afforded me and the zealous manner in which he performed his duty at the late affair at Omarunui. This omission was purely accidental.
I have, &c.,
G. S. WHITMORE,
Lieutenant-Colonel Commanding
Napier Militia District.
The Hon. the Defence Minister,
Wellington.
Printed under the authority of the Government of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, by JAMES WOOD, Printer for the time being to such Government.
