PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor Donald M’Lean, Esquire, Superintendent of
the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Islands of New Zealand.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the late Legislative Council of New Zealand for regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle in certain Places (Session 8 No. 5) it was enacted that it should be lawful for His Excellency the Governor, by Proclamation, to constitute and define certain Districts for the purposes aforesaid.
And whereas the powers contained in the last recited Ordinance, so far as concern the Province of Hawke’s Bay, are now by law vested in the Superintendent of the said Province of Hawke’s Bay.
Now, therefore, I, Donald M’Lean, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, by virtue of the powers vested in me, do hereby proclaim, constitute, and define the District now described for the purposes aforesaid, comprising the whole of the Town and Suburban Lands of Clyde, bounded towards
the North by the Wairoa River ninety-three chains, and by Native Lands
fifty-seven chains; towards the East and South-East by the Wairoa River one
hundred and ninety-two chains; towards the South and South-West by Crown
Lands one hundred and fifty chains; and towards the West by Native Lands
thirty-eight chains.
And I further proclaim and declare that the Ordinance above recited
shall, for the purpose of regulating the Slaughtering of Cattle within the District above constituted and defined, come into operation on the 1st day of May,
1866.
Given under my hand and issued under the Public Seal of the
Province of Hawke’s Bay this 11th day of April, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six.
