Dec. 23, 1864.

Sir,—I beg to inform you that the
“Strathallan” arrived here on the 24th
November, after a passage of 105 days
from England.

I have much pleasure in informing you
of the good health of all the emigrants on
their arrival, having had very little sickness
during the voyage. Three births
took place on the ship: on the 10th August,
Mrs. Inglis of a daughter; on the 12th,
Mrs. Wilson of a daughter; and on the
26th, Mrs. Price of a son. In the month
of August a few cases of diarrhoea, and in
the month of September a few cases of
simple fever.

I can speak in the highest terms of the
good conduct of the emigrants during the
voyage; and, I am certain, had we brought
out 200 or 300 they could have found immediate employment.

All the emigrants speak in the highest
terms of the kind manner they were
received by the Government on their
arrival.

I remain, Sir,
Yours, obediently,
