which may be exercised and performed by such Superintendent, or such of them only as shall be specified in such Proclamation.

Now, therefore, I, Donald M’Lean, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, do hereby in virtue of the power conferred on me by the aforesaid Act, Proclaim that I have this day appointed

JOSEPH RHODES, Esq., J.P.,

to be Deputy Superintendent of this Province under the provisions of the above recited Act.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Nos. 1 and 2 Companies of the NAPIER MILITIA and the NAPIER RIFLE VOLUNTEERS will assemble for drill on their usual parade ground at Napier, at 7 a.m. on WEDNESDAY, 25th MAY.

No. 3 Company will assemble for drill at Clive and Havelock on the same day at an hour to be appointed by their Captain.

No. 4 Company will assemble for parade on FRIDAY, 27th MAY next, at their usual parade grounds, at an hour to be appointed by their Captain.

No. 5 Company will assemble for drill at Mr. Curling’s Wool-shed and at Kereru, on WEDNESDAY, the 25th May next, at an hour to be appointed by their Captain.

No. 6 Company will assemble for drill at their usual parade ground, on WEDNESDAY, 25th May next, at an hour to be appointed by their Captain.

No. 7 Company will assemble for drill at their usual parade grounds, on WEDNESDAY, 25th May next, at an hour to be appointed by their Captain.

Captain Gordon’s Troop of Mounted Volunteers will assemble for drill on WEDNESDAY, the 25th May next, on their usual parade ground, at an hour to be appointed by that officer.

Captain Hunter’s Troop of Mounted Volunteers will assemble for drill on WEDNESDAY, 25th May next, on their usual parade ground, at an hour to be appointed by that officer.

Captain G. S. Cooper’s Troop of Mounted Volunteers will assemble for drill on WEDNESDAY, the 25th May next, on their usual parade grounds, at an hour to be appointed by that officer.

The drills will be continued fortnightly, at the same hours and places, until further notice.
