VOL. V. WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 1864. No. 6.
PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor DONALD M’LEAN, Esq.,
Superintendent of the Province of
Hawke’s Bay, in the Colony of
New Zealand.
WHEREAS by a Proclamation under
my hand, and issued under the Public
Seal of the said Province, and bearing
date the 1st day of February, 1864, after
Sections 9 and 10 of “The Diseased Cattle Act, 1861,” and reciting the delegation
to me, the said Donald M’Lean, by the
Governor of New Zealand, of the several
powers vested in the said Governor by the
2nd, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th, and 10th Sections
of the said Act,—I, the said Donald
M’Lean, by virtue of the powers vested in
me in that behalf, did proclaim that, after
the date thereof amongst other districts,
that all the ports in the Colony of New
Zealand should be deemed to be infected
districts within the meaning and for the
purposes of the above-mentioned Act, and
that no cattle after the date thereof until
further notice should be imported into the
said Province of Hawke’s Bay from the
said districts,—And whereas it is expedient to annul the said Proclamation so
far as regards declaring the Port of Wellington to be an infected district, and prohibiting the importation of cattle therefrom,—
Now, therefore, I, the said Donald
M’Lean, Esquire, by virtue of the powers
vested in me in this behalf, do hereby annul and make void the said Proclamation,
so far as the same declares the Port of
Wellington to be an infected district within the meaning of the said Act, and so far
as the same prohibits the importation of
cattle from the said Port of Wellington,
and do hereby proclaim and declare that,
until further notice, it shall be lawful to
import cattle from the said Province of
Wellington into the said Province of
Hawke’s Bay, and I do further proclaim
and declare that it shall not be lawful to
remove or transport cattle into the said
Province of Hawke’s Bay from any part
of the said Colony of New Zealand, other
than the said Province of Wellington, and
do hereby ratify and confirm the Proclamation hereinbefore recited in all other
respects, save as the same is hereby annulled and altered.
Given under my hand, and issued
under the Public Seal of the
Province of Hawke’s Bay, at
Napier, this 28th day of March,
1864.
DONALD M’LEAN,
Superintendent.
