Militia and Volunteer Office,
Auckland, 17 Nov., 1864.

SIR,—I am directed by Government to request that you will order a Parade of the Militia in the District under your command at least once in each month, for the purpose of inspecting the arms, &c., in possession of the men of that Force.

You will be good enough also, on any of the usual parades, to examine carefully the arms, &c., of the Volunteer corps, at least once in each month.

Should any of the arms, &c., in possession of any of the Militia or Volunteers, be found to be not in a clean and serviceable state, they are to be taken into store.

AGREEABLE to instructions received from the Deputy Adjutant-General of Militia and Volunteers, dated Auckland, the 17th November, 1864, the whole of the Militia and Volunteers in this Province will parade at least once in each month until further orders, on their usual drill grounds, for the inspection of their Arms, Accoutrements, &c., viz. :—

Militia.

Nos. 1 and 2 Companies with the Rifle Volunteers, at 7 o’clock a.m., Saturday the 17th December, 1864.

No. 3 Company, the Clive Subdivision, at 11 o’clock a.m. ; the Havelock Subdivision at 2 o’clock p.m., on Saturday, the 17th December, 1864.

No. 4 Company, Meanee Squad, at 10 o’clock a.m. Puketapu at 12 noon, the 19th December, 1864. Petane Squad at 2 o’clock p.m., the 20th December, 1864.

No. 5 Company, Kereru Subdivision, at 2 o’clock p.m., 22nd. Te Kopanga Subdivision at 3 o’clock p.m., 27th December, 1864.

No. 6 Company, The Waipawa Subdivision, at 10 o’clock a.m., the remainder at 4 o’clock p.m., 28th December, 1864.

No. 7 Company, Waipukurau, at 11 o’clock a.m., the 29th December, 1864.

Volunteers.

Napier Cavalry Volunteers at 3 o’clock p.m. the 19th December, 1864.

Waipawa Cavalry Volunteers at 11 o’clock a.m., 28th December, 1864.

Porangahau Cavalry Volunteers at 10 o’clock a.m., 30th December, 1864.
