THE following Extract from the “New Zealand Gazette,” No. 35, September 14, 1864, is re-published for general enquiry.

Enquiries respecting Francois Gerard.

Auckland, Sept. 6, 1864.
Enquiries having been made respecting a person named Francois Gerard, a native of France, lately residing at Maldon, Tua- ngower, in the Colony of Victoria, and who left that place for New Zealand about nine months since with a Frenchman named Victor Elsee, a bootmaker from Castlemaine, any one who can give information respecting such a person will please communicate with this office.

NOTICE
TO NAVAL AND MILITARY SETTLERS.
NOTICE is Hereby Given that in pursuance of an Act passed in the last session of the General Assembly, intituled “An Act to repeal clause 13, ‘Waste Lands Act, 1858,’ section 7, clause 28 of the ‘General Land Regulations for the sale of Waste Lands in New Zealand, proclaimed 4th March, 1853, and the ‘Hawke’s Bay Naval and Military Settlers’ Act, 1861,’ so far as they affect the Provinces of Wellington and Hawke’s Bay,” all intending Naval and Military Settlers under the foregoing provisions must make their claims for Land Orders in the Province or Hawke’s Bay at this office at once, as the limitation for the receipt of such claims, in terms of the Act, expire on the 12th day of December next, after which date no claims whatever for such orders can be entertained.
It is requested also of those who have already made their claims, that they will apply without delay for the issue of their orders, and return of the documents left in support thereof.
