All public Notifications which appear in this Gazette, with any Official Signature thereunto annexed, are to be considered as Official Communications made to those persons to whom they relate, and are to be obeyed accordingly.

NOTICE.

Napier, August 23, 1864.

THE following FERRY REGULATIONS are published for general information :-

All officers of the General Government when on duty are exempt from Ferry charges.

Every Provincial Government officer, save policemen, strictly on duty, shall pay the usual Fee chargeable at the respective Ferries in the Province of Hawke’s Bay.

Every person in charge of a Licensed Ferry shall be bound to cross travellers and carriers as they may arrive in succession, and shall not unnecessarily delay such travellers or carriers by the crossing of stock.

That where a large number of stock has to be crossed at any Licensed Ferry, and a portion of such stock has passed over, the owner of shall not be allowed to claim the exclusive use of the said Ferry, for the remainder of the same, in the event of the arrival of travellers or carriers.

IT IS HEREBY NOTIFIED for general information that the following gentlemen have been appointed Inspectors of Sheep and Registrars of Brands for the Districts respectively hereinafter mentioned :-

F. J. TIFFEN, Esq., for the district south of the Ngaruroro ; and

G. PEACOCK, Esq., for the district north of the Ngaruroro, including the Town of Napier ;—

Both appointments to take effect from the 1st September, 1864.

Has been appointed Corporal of the Hawke’s Bay Police Force. Appointment to date from September 1, 1864.
