It is impossible to state "the amount of ten and five-shilling land open for sale" under properly classified heads. There are many runs not certified to, and consist presumably of ten-shilling land, but which I might feel bound to certify to as "unagricultural" if called upon to do so by the runholder. Again, many large tracts of country are "open for sale," and never having been officially inspected, may possibly contain some ten-shilling land; but, although many sales may still be effected under that head, I do not think there is much "ten shilling,"—or, more properly, "agricultural,"—land left in the hands of the Government.
J. C. LAMBTON CARTER,
Commissioner of Crown Lands.
