William Leechner, Esq.,
has been appointed Inspector of Sheep, Registrar of Brands, and Inspector of Weights and Measures for the Town of Napier, appointment to take effect from the 1st of July next.

has been appointed Examiner of Sheep for the Southern boundary of the Province.

THE following Warrants, issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor, are published for general information.

WHEREAS by the... Diseased Cattle Act, 1861 it was provided that the Governor in Council might, by Warrant under his hand from time to time delegate to the Superintendent of any Province within the said Colony all or any of the powers vested in the Governor or Governor in Council by the said Act subject to such Regulations as he might think fit, and might from time to time rescind such Delegation;

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in pursuance and exercise of the said power and authority, do, by this Warrant under my hand, delegate to

Donald M’Lean, Esq.,
the Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, all such powers as are vested in me by Sections Fourteen of the said Act to be exercised within the limits of the said Province without any limitation or restriction.

Given under my hand at New Plymouth, and issued under the Seal of the Colony of New Zealand this eighteenth day of May, in the year of our Lord One thousand, eight hundred and sixty three.

Delegation to the Superintendent of Hawke’s Bay under the “Waste Lands Act, 1858.”

By his Excellency Sir George Grey, Knight, Commander of the most honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.

WHEREAS by the “Waste Lands Act, 1858,” the Governor is empowered from time to time to delegate to the Superintendent of any Province or to such other person as he may think fit, all or any of the powers vested in him by Sections Three, Four, and Five, and also by Section Fourteen of the said Act, subject or not to any limitations or restrictions as the Governor may think fit;

Now, therefore, I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of New Zealand, in pursuance of the said power and authority, do hereby delegate to

Donald M’Lean, Esq.,
the Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, all such powers as are vested in me by Section Fourteen of the said Act to be exercised within the limits of the said Province without any limitation or restriction.

His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint the undermentioned Gentlemen to be Registrars of Births, Deaths, and Marriages for the Districts set opposite their names as the same are defined in Proclamations bearing date the fifth instant and published in this Gazette.

Edward Catchpool, Napier.
William Rathbone, Waipukurau.
William Hunter, Porangahau.
Henry Gason, Mohaka.

These appointments to take effect from the 1st July next.
