ORDER IN COUNCIL.

Bringing the "Crown Lands Act, 1862," into operation.

At the Government House at Auckland, the 28th day of February, 1863.
Present:

His Excellency THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by an act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Crown Lands Act, 1862," it is enacted that the said Act shall come into operation in each Province of New Zealand on and from a day to be fixed by the Governor in Council, to be notified in the Government Gazette of the Colony, and also of the Province to which such notification shall apply:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of New Zealand, doth hereby order that the "Crown Lands Act, 1862," shall come into operation within each of the aforementioned Provinces of New Zealand, namely, the Provinces of Auckland, Wellington, Hawke's Bay, Taranaki, Nelson, Marlborough, Canterbury, Otago, and Southland, on and from the sixteenth day of April next.

IT is hereby notified that Writs issued for the election of Members of the Provincial Council of the province of Hawke's Bay have been returned with certificates to the effect thatβ€”

For the District of the Town of Napier,
Messrs. John Alexander Smith, Alexander Kennedy, Thomas Hitchings, James Wood, and William Colenso.

For the District of Porangahau,
John Davis Ormond, Esq.,

For the District of Waipukurau,
Messrs. Sydney Johnston and John Wilkinson.

For the District of Te Aute,
Messrs. Henry Stokes Tiffen, and Edmund Tuke.

For the District of Mohaka,
Philip Dolbel, Esq.,

For the District of Clive,
Joseph Rhodes, Esq.,

For the Napier Country District,
Messrs. John Chilton Lambton Carter, and Donald McLean.

For the District of Waimarama,
Edward Spencer Curling, Esq., have been duly elected.

READER WOOL,
In the absence of Mr. Domett.

Donald McLean Esq. elected Superintendent of Hawke's Bay.

Colonial Secretary's Office,
Auckland, 4th March, 1863.

HIS Excellency the Governor directs it to be notified that the Speaker of the Provincial Council of the Province of Hawke's Bay has reported that Donald McLean, Esq., has been duly elected Superintendent of that Province, under the provisions of the "New Provinces Act, 1858."
