PROCLAMATION.

By DONALD M’LEAN, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay in the Islands of New Zealand.

I, DONALD M’LEAN, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay in pursuance of the power and authority vested in me on this behalf, Do hereby Proclaim and appoint that the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay shall meet for the despatch of business at the Council Chamber, at Napier on Monday the Eighteenth day of January next at 3 o’clock p.m.

Dated at Napier this 14th day of December, in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and sixty-three.

IT is Hereby notified for general information that a Writ for the election of a Member to serve in the Provincial Council of Hawke’s Bay for the Napier Country District having been issued in accordance with clause 12 of “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” the Returning Officer has returned the said Writ with a certificate that the undermentioned gentleman has been duly elected to serve as Member of the said Provincial Council for the said Napier Country District:

I, DONALD M’LEAN, Esquire, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, Do hereby Proclaim and Notify that the Land described in the annexed Schedule is reserved from Sale for purposes of public utility under the Additional Land Regulations of the 15th February, 1855, from the day of the date hereof:

THE following Circular, in reference to a proposed National Shakespeare Monument, is published for general information.

Sir,—We do ourselves the honor of calling your Excellency’s attention to the accompanying Resolution of the Shakespeare Committee,* inviting your co-operation in

Proposed by Sir RICHARD MACDONNELL, C.B.,
seconded by THOMAS WRIGHT, Esq.—

That the Governors of her Majesty’s Colonies and Indian Possessions be invited to make known this object to the Committees within their respective Provinces, and to submit the sympathy and support of her Majesty’s subjects throughout the British dependencies in aid of the erection of the contemplated National Shakespeare Monument.

SCHEDULE.

Area 150 acres on the Waipuna Bush near Mr. Morgan’s late homestead:—

Boundaries—

  • North, by Crown Lands, 5000 links.
  • East, by Crown Lands, 2700 links.
  • South, by applications Nos. 456, 1273 and 1389, 6000 links.
  • West, by application No. 1300, 3000 links.
