HIS Honor the Superintendent has directed the following to be published for general information.

General Authority to institute proceedings under the Arms Act, 1860.
By His Excellency Sir GEORGE GREY, Knight Commander of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over Her Majesty’s Colony of New Zealand and its Dependencies, and Vice-Admiral of the same, &c., &c., &c.
IN pursuance of the power for this purpose vested in me under the “Arms Act, 1860,” I, Sir George Grey, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint THOMAS SCULLY, Chief Officer of Police in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, to be the person by whom and at whose instance Indictments and Informations shall be preferred, or proceedings instituted against any person for any offence by the said Act declared to be a felony or misdemeanour.
Witness my hand at the Government House at Wellington, this Eleventh day of August, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Sixty-Two.

PROCLAMATION.
By JOHN CHILTON LAMBTON CARTER, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, in the Islands of New Zealand.
I, JOHN CHILTON LAMBTON CARTER, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, Do hereby Proclaim and Notify that at Noon on Monday, the 20th October next, the Commissioner of Crown Lands will offer to public competition, under the provisions of the Land Regulations now in force in this Province, Town Sections at Hampden, and Bush Sections at Kereru, that are referred to in the Schedule hereunto annexed, and at the upset price mentioned therein.
Dated at Napier, this twenty-ninth day of August, in the year of Our Lord, One Thousand, Eight Hundred and Sixty-Two.
