- PROCLAMATION.
By His Honor JOHN CHILTON LAMB-
TON CARTER, Esq., Superintendent
of the Province of Hawke's Bay.
WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the
late Legislative Council of New
Zealand for regulating the Slaughtering
of Cattle in certain Places (Session 8, No.
5) it was enacted that it should be lawful
for His Excellency the Governor, by pro-
clamation, to constitute and define certain
Districts for the purpose aforesaid : And
whereas the powers contained in the last
recited Ordinance, so far as concern the
Province of Hawke's Bay, are now by
law vested in the Superintendent of the
said Province of Hawke's Bay. Now
therefore, I, John Chilton Lambton Car-
ter, Superintendent of the Province of
Hawke's Bay, by virtue of the powers
vested in me, do hereby proclaim, consti-
tute, and define the District now described
for the purposes aforesaid, viz :—
All that District, being portion of the
Province of Hawke's Bay, "com-
mencing at the mouth of Ahuriri
Harbour, and following the sea coast
in an Easterly and Southerly direc-
tion to the mouth of the Tukituki;
up the Tukituki to a point due East
from Te Mata; along the Te Mata
ridge to the South-Eastern point of
the Havelock suburban land; from
thence following the Southern boun-
dary of the said suburban land to
Louisa Creek; from Louisa Creek in
a straight line to the Tutaekuri at
Pawhakaairo; up the Tutaekuri to
Puketapu, following the Puketapu
Road to the South-eastern point of
Warerangi reserve; thence to the
South-West point of the said reserve;
and from that point to the Western
boundary of the suburban land at
Wairoa-iti; follow that line to the river
Esk, or Waioinnga, then down that
river to the sea, and along the sea
coast to the mouth of the Harbour.
And I further proclaim and declare,
that the Ordinance above recited shall,
for the purpose of regulating the Slaugh-
tering of Cattle within the District above
constituted and defined, come into opera-
tion on the first day of September, one
thousand eight hundred and sixty-one.

under the Public Seal of the
Province of Hawke's Bay, this
fourth day of July, one thou-
sand eight hundred and sixty-
one.

Auckland, May 31, 1861.
SIR,—I have the honor to request that
in any case where it may be deemed ex-
pedient to antedate the vesting of the
legal estate in land conveyed by any
Crown Grant, under the provisions of the
"Conveyancing Ordinance Amendment
Act, 1860," (24 Vic. c. xvi., §§ 11, 12),
a certificate may be furnished, concur-
rently with the application, under the
hand of the Receiver of Land Revenue,
setting forth the time when the equitable
estate vested in the grantee—that is, when
he became entitled to a grant.
An endorsement in the form following
should also be placed upon the Grant
when transmitted to the Government for
execution :—
"I hereby certify that the Purchase-
"money for the within granted Land was
"paid on the----------day of----------
"one thousand eight hundred and sixty
"----------.
"Secretary for Crown Lands."
