PROCLAMATION.
By JOHN CHILTON LAMBTON CARTER, Esq., Superintendent of the Province of Hawke's Bay, in the Colony of New Zealand.
WHEREAS, by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, Session 5, No. 70, intituled "An Act to provide for the establishment of New Provinces in New Zealand," it is among other things enacted, that the Provincial Council of any New Province created under such Act shall, upon its first meeting, by an absolute
majority, elect some person qualified to vote in the election of a member of the said Council to be Superintendent of the Province.
And whereas, at a meeting of the Provincial Council of Hawke's Bay, held on Monday, the 8th of April instant, the said Council did, by an absolute majority, elect John Chilton Lambton Carter, Esq., to be Superintendent of the Province of Hawke's Bay.
Now, therefore, I, John Chilton Lambton Carter, Esq., under the provisions of the said Act, and by virtue of the election aforesaid, have accord-
