  1. For the purposes of this Regulation
    the streets mentioned in sub-section 1 of
    this Regulation and any street which may be
    or may come within sub-section 2 of this
    Regulation shall be construed as meaning
    the centre of the said streets or of any such
    street respectively.

REGULATION No. 11.

DRIVING OF CATTLE.

Regulation of the Council of the Borough
of Timaru made under Part I. of the
18th Schedule of “The Municipal Corporations Act 1867.”

INDEX:

  1. Regulation &c. as to driving cattle.

In pursuance of the said Schedule of the
said Act the Council of the Borough
of Timaru make the following Regulation
(that is to say):—

  1. The portion of the Borough of Timaru
    in which it shall not be lawful to drive assist
    to drive or cause to be driven any cattle
    between the hours of eight o’clock a.m. and
    six o’clock p.m. shall be the following
    that is to say:—Great North Road at its
    junction with Sefton Street thence along
    Sefton Street to its junction with Theodocia
    Street thence along Theodocia Street to its
    junction with North Street thence along
    North Street to the sea (excepting in the
    cases in this section specified).

(1) Oxen in yoke and horses in harness
may be so driven within the said
hours.

(2) Cattle found trespassing within the
Borough may be driven to the pound
within the said hours.

(3) All cattle intended for export or im-
port may be driven within the said
hours.

(4) The word “cattle” shall for the
purposes of this Regulation be deemed
to include horses asses mules neat
cattle sheep goats and swine of all
ages and of either sex and to apply
to any one of such animals driven
alone as well as to a mob or herd.

REGULATION No. 12.

CROSSINGS OVER FOOTWAYS.

A Regulation of the Council of the Borough
of Timaru made under Part I. of the
18th Schedule of “The Municipal Corporations Act 1867.”

INDEX:

  1. Regulation crossings over footways
    &c.

In pursuance of the said Schedule of the
said Act the Council of the Borough
of Timaru make the following Regulation
(that is to say):—

This Regulation shall apply to all cross-
ings and footways within the Borough
of Timaru whether constructed or used
previous to this Regulation coming into
operation or not or whether permission
has been obtained from the Timaru
Borough Council for such construction
or use or not.

  1. No crossing shall be more or less than
    nine feet long in the direction of the street
    unless the permission of the Borough Council
    has been first obtained.

  2. All crossings shall extend over the
    full width of the footway and have such in-
    clination towards the channel and be set
    to such gradients as the case may require.

  3. Both sides of any crossing laid in any
    street or part of a street having stone kerb-
    ings shall be laid with straight axed dressed
    blue stone kerbing twelve by eight in section
    and not less than two feet long having at
    each end quadrants of two feet radius the
    crossing in such case shall be laid with blue
    stone cubes nine inches deep four inches
    wide and any length over fifteen inches.

  4. All crossings shall be laid on a well
    prepared bed with materials approved by
    the Timaru Borough Council.
