PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, intituled "The Education Ordinance, 1873," it is amongst other things provided that the Superintendent may, under the provisions of section 25 of the said Ordinance, declare any portion of the Province not comprised within the limits of any Educational District to be an Educational District.

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers vested in me do hereby, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, declare the portion of the Province hereinafter described to be an Educational District, with the name and with the boundaries as are hereinafter set forth:—

KAKAHU EDUCATIONAL DISTRICT.

Commencing at the south-west corner of section 14,555, where it touches the River Opihi: thence northerly along the western boundary of the said section and section 16357 to the north-west corner of the latter section; thence in a straight line to the south-west corner of section 17432; thence north-easterly along the western boundaries of the said section, and section 18317 to the north-west corner of the latter section; thence in a straight line, easterly, to the south corner of section 1988; thence following along the road running between sections 12250 and 7462, south easterly and easterly, to the junction of roads at the south-west corner of section 1210; thence easterly along the road forming the northern boundaries of sections 16109 and 13689 to the south-west corner of section 12623; thence northerly along the western boundary of the said section to its north-west corner; thence easterly along

the northern boundary of said section to the road running between sections 12623 and 6937; thence along the said road to the south-west corner of section 9263; thence easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundary of the said section to the River Kakahu; thence along the said river to the Hai Hai te Moana river bed; thence along the said river to the southern boundary of the Pleasant Valley Education District; thence westerly along the southern boundary of the said district to the south-east corner of section 7489, thence southerly in a straight line to the north-west corner of section 14245; thence southerly along the western boundaries of the said section and sections 10109 and 14247 to the south-west corner of the latter section; thence in a straight line to the north-west corner of section 7241; thence southerly in a straight line to the north-west corner of section 2527: thence south-westerly in a straight line to the north-west corner of section 7641; thence southerly along the western boundaries of said section and section 7011 to the Kakahu River; thence southerly along the river to a road running southerly to the River Opihi; thence along the said road to the River Opihi; thence along the River Opihi to the starting point.

Given under my hand, and dated at Christchurch this seventh day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-four.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by an Ordinance of the Superintendent and Provincial Council of the Province of Canterbury, intituled "The Education Ordinance, 1873," it is amongst other things, provided that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent to alter boundaries of any Educational District and to divide any Educational District into two or more Districts or parts of Districts, or to combine two or more Districts or parts of Districts into one, or to add portions of any District to any adjoining district, or to add any locality not being or forming part of a District to an Educational District, and in every such case the District or Districts constituted or affected thereby shall be deemed to be and shall be proclaimed as provided in the said Ordinance as newly constituted Educational District or Districts.

Now, therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the said Province, in pursuance of the powers vested in me by the 27th section of the said before recited Ordinance, and by and with the advice of the Executive Council do hereby alter the limits of the Waitohi Flat Educational District; and I do hereby proclaim the District
