PUBLIC NOTICE.

His Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the Offices of the Provincial Government will be closed on Thursday and Friday, the 25th and 26th instants, and on Thursday and Friday, the 1st and 2nd January next.

No sitting of the Waste Lands Board will be held on the days above-mentioned.

PROCLAMATION.

Whereas the owners and occupiers of land and householders in the Educational District of Kaiapoi have failed within the time limited for that purpose by the Board of Education to contribute and pay to the Provincial Treasurer the amount fixed by the Board as the contributions of the said district towards the cost of site for school buildings :

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby declare a uniform rate of one shilling in the pound to be leviable within the said district, under the provisions of section 42 of "The Education Ordinance, 1873," and I do hereby appoint

EDWARD REVELL

as the person to whom the said rate shall be paid.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this seventeenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.
