to be Matron of the Christchurch Hospital.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that the Offices of the Provincial Government will be closed on Saturday, the 24th instant, in honour of the Birthday of Her Majesty the Queen.

PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Roads Diversion Ordinance, 1872,” it is among other things enacted that the Superintendent may by proclamation authorise the Road Board of any district to take upon itself the charge of any public Road within the limits of any such district: And whereas it is desirable that the Road leading to the Barrys Bay Jetty constructed by the Provincial Government, be placed under the charge of the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board:

Now, therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, by virtue of the powers vested in me by the 81st clause of the above recited Ordinance, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby authorise the Akaroa and Wainui Road Board to take upon itself the charge of the said Road and maintain the same under the provisions of “The Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872.”

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this ninth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

NOTICE.

PROTECTION OF ANIMALS ACT, 1867.

HIS Honor the Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has, in pursuance of the powers delegated to him under “The Protection of Animals Act, 1867,” appointed the following persons to act as Rangers within the Province of Canterbury:
