PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS the owners and occupiers of land and householders in the Educational District of St. Albans have failed within the time limited for that purpose by the Board of Education to contribute and pay to the Provincial Treasurer the amount fixed by the Board as the contributions of the said district for school purposes:

Now, therefore, I, WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance of the powers vested in me, and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, do hereby declare an uniform rate of sixpence in the pound to be leviable within the said district, under the provisions of the seventeenth section of “The Education Ordinance, 1871, Amendment Ordinance, 1872, No. 2,” and I do hereby appoint

DANIEL PINE

as the person to whom the said rate shall be paid.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this twentieth day of March, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-three.

PUBLIC NOTICE.

NOTICE is hereby given that application is intended to be made to the Provincial Council of Canterbury in the ensuing Session, for an Ordinance to enable the Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury to take land for the construction of a Road through Peel Forest, in the Mount Peel Road Board District, in the said Province.

A plan and section of the said Road, with a book of reference, is this day deposited in the Provincial Secretary’s Office, Christchurch.
