On behalf of his Excellency the Governor, I have assented to the following Ordinances:—

"The Municipal Council Ordinances Repeal Ordinance, 1872."

"The Christchurch City Council Ordinances Repeal Ordinance, 1872."

"The Hospital and Charitable Aid Ordinance, 1864, Repeal Ordinance, 1872."

"The Sheep Eating Ordinance, 1866, Amendment Ordinance, 1867, Repeal Ordinance, 1872."

"The Hackney Carriage Ordinance, 1864, Repeal Ordinance, 1872."

"The Public House Ordinance, 1866, Amendment Ordinance, 1872."

"The Diversion of Roads Special Ordinance, No. 5, 1872."

"The Canterbury Roads Ordinance, 1872."

"The Canterbury Sheep Ordinance, 1872."

"The Canterbury Fencing Ordinance, 1872."

"The Canterbury Trespass of Cattle Ordinance, 1872."

"The Education Ordinance, 1871, Amendment Ordinance, 1872, No. 2."

"The Appropriation Ordinance, No. 2, 1872."

I have reserved for the signification of his Excellency’s pleasure thereon:—

WHEREAS by "The Canterbury Rivers Act, 1870," it is enacted that the Provincial Council may, by resolution, from time to time decide that any part or parts of the Province shall be constituted a district for the purposes of the said Act; and that such resolution shall describe the limits of such district, and designate the name by
