PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by “The Roads Ordinance, 1869,” it is among other things enacted, that if at any time previous to the 1st day of August in any year a majority of the Ratepayers of any portion of a district described in Schedule B to the said Ordinance, should petition the Superintendent that a portion of the district to be specified in such Petition should be formed into a separate district, it should be lawful for the Superintendent in Council, by Proclamation to be inserted in the Government Gazette, and one newspaper circulating in the district, to declare that such part of the district mentioned in the said Petition should be a Road District.

And whereas a Petition signed by a majority of Ratepayers within a portion of the Malvern District, being a district described in the Schedule B to the said Ordinance, was duly forwarded to the Superintendent, pursuant to the said Ordinance, and it was thereby prayed that the portion of the Province therein mentioned might be formed into a separate District.

Now, therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the said Province, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council thereof, and in exercise and execution of the powers vested in me by the said Ordinance, do hereby declare that the portion of the Province hereinafter described, and heretofore comprised in the Malvern District, shall henceforth be a Road Board District, under the name of “The Southern Malvern Road Board District,” that is to say: All that portion of the Province commencing at a point on the north bank of the Waikaepa Branch of the River Selwyn, the same being the southernmost corner of Run No. 41; thence northeasterly, following the eastern boundary of that run to the Auchenflower Road; thence following a straight line to a point on the western boundary of section 3719, where it is intersected by the western boundary of the before mentioned River; thence following a straight line to the northernmost corner of section 8107, and from thence returning along the northern bank of the Waikaepa River before mentioned, to the commencing point.

Given under my hand, at Christchurch, this 13th day of March, One thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

WM. ROLLESTON,
Superintendent.
