... October 23 ... Present 15 ... The state of the building and the absence of any out-door offices are unsatisfactory. (See form.) There is also an almost total want of suitable books, apparatus, furniture and fittings. The register, the room and the children in good order; the progress satisfactory.
Waiki Crossing
... October 24 ... Present 49 ... The buildings are still somewhat incomplete, although improvements in them have been made. The premises being unfenced, cattle are troublesome to the teacher and his family. The order and the progress of the school are satisfactory.
Scotsburn
... October 25 ... Present 9 ... The average attendance being 10. The steady progress and remarkable accuracy of the children reflect credit upon the care and pains taken by the teacher.

Casual and passing visits have been paid to several schools.
