PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation bearing date the third day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy, under the hand of Robert Heaton Rhodes, Esquire, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, a portion of the said Province as therein described was declared to be a Road District under the name of "The Mount Somers District": And whereas it is expedient to define more particularly the boundaries of the said district:

Now therefore, I, RICHARD JAMES STRACHAN HARMAN, the Deputy-Superintendent of the Province aforesaid, do hereby proclaim and declare the boundaries of the said district to be as follows:

All that portion of the Province bounded;

on the north by the Rakaia District;
on the east by the north-west boundary of Run No. 499, and a line in continuation thereof to the north bank of the River Hinds; thence following down that river to the north-western boundary of Run No. 59; thence following the latter boundary to the south branch of the River Ashburton; thence following a straight line by the northern end of the Island to the northern bank of the northern branch of the River Ashburton; thence following down the same to the north-western boundary of Run No. 124, and from thence following that boundary and the north-western boundary of Run No. 116, and a line in continuation thereof to the north bank of the River Rakaia; on the south by the north bank of the Rivers Rangitata and Clyde to the source of the latter, and a true west line; and on the west by the County of Westland.

Given under my hand at Christchurch, this Twenty-eighth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-one.

SCHEDULE.

ASHBURTON DISTRICT.

Commencing at the northern corner of section 10283; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of that section to its easternmost corner; thence in a straight line to Trig. pole 8x; thence in a straight line to Trig. pole 15; thence in a straight line to the easternmost corner of section 10413; thence south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of that section and a line in continuation thereof to the River Ashburton; thence in a straight line to the junction of the Ashburton road south with the road to the south-east of section 4950; thence northerly along the former road to the South road; thence along the road to the west of sections 6022, 8191, and 8192, to the north-west corner of the latter section; and thence in a straight line to the starting point.

LE BON’S BAY DISTRICT.

Bounded on the east by the sea; on the north and north-west by the spur of hills to the north of LeBon’s Bay; and on the south by the spur of hills running out to Putakolo Head.

His Honor the Deputy-Superintendent directs it to be notified that he has made the following Reserve, temporarily, under the 19th Clause of the Waste Lands Regulations, viz.:

No. 1321, in red.—Five acres, more or less, situate in the Oxford District, bounded on the southward by the road south of section 10030; on the westward by the road east of that section; on the northward by section 12915; and on the eastward by a line at right angles to the first above-mentioned road, to include the required quantity—for a gravel pit.

PROCLAMATION.

RICHARD JAMES STRACHAN HARMAN, Deputy-Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in me, and upon the recommendation of the Board of Education, do hereby proclaim and declare that the districts described in the Schedule hereto shall be Educational Districts.
