PROCLAMATION.

I WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superin-
tendent of the Province of Canterbury,
in pursuance of the powers vested in me by
"The Education Ordinance, 1871," and with
the advice and consent of my Executive
Council, do hereby appoint the undermentioned
persons to be the Members of the
Board of Education under the said Ordinance:—

William Montgomery, Esq.,
Arthur Charles Knight, Esq.,
Thomas William Maude, Esq.,
George Gould, Esq.,
Charles Christopher Bowen, Esq.,
Robert J. Loughnan, Esq.,
James Somerville Turnbull, Esq., M.D.,
Walter Kennaway, Esq.

And I do hereby fix Thursday, the 24th day
of August, 1871, at 11 o’clock a.m., at the
Government Buildings, as the time and
place at which the first Meeting of the
Board shall be held.

Given under my hand at Christchurch,
this twenty-third day of August,
one thousand eight hundred and
seventy-one.

His Honor the Superintendent directs
it to be notified that

Alfred Cox, Esq.,
has resigned his seat in the Executive
Council of the Province.
