PROCLAMATION.

I WILLIAM ROLLESTON, Superin-
tendent of the Province of Canter-
bury, in pursuance of the powers vested in
me by "The Dog Nuisance Ordinance, Ses-
sion XVII., No. 3," do hereby appoint

Edward Jones Anew Stevenson,

to be a person duly authorised to register dogs.

Given under my hand at Christchurch,
this Fifth day of July, one thou-
sand eight hundred and seventy-
one.

THIS DEED made the Fifteenth day of
December one thousand eight hundred
and seventy between John Smith of Bell-
field in the Province of Canterbury in New
Zealand farmer of the one part and His
Honor William Rolleston Esquire Superin-
tendent of the said Province of Canterbury
of the other part Witnesseth that in con-
sideration of the sum of Five Shillings paid
by the said William Rolleston as such Super-
intendent as aforesaid to the said John
Smith (the receipt whereof is hereby
acknowledged) he the said John Smith doth
hereby grant convey and assure unto the
said William Rolleston as such Superin-
tendent as aforesaid and his successors All
that the Land now laid out as Streets or Roads
comprising parts of the rural sections num-
bered respectively 238 and 239 on the map
of the Chief Surveyor of the said Province
of Canterbury setting out and describing the
rural land in the Christchurch district of the
said Province delineated in the plan drawn
hereon and therein distinguished by a pink
color With All the appurtenances thereunto
belonging To Hold the same unto the said
William Rolleston as such Superintendent
as aforesaid his successors and assigns for
ever subject nevertheless to the rights of way
through and along the said streets or roads
to which the several owners and occupiers of
the adjoining lands are entitled to the intent
that the said street or road may for ever
hereafter be used and enjoyed by the public
as a public highway And it is hereby de-
clared that no covenant shall be herein im-
plied under or by virtue of the Conveyancing
Ordinance now in force in New Zealand In
