The Board has given notice that the Scholarships gained during the years 1866 and 1867 will terminate on the 30th September next, and that ten new Scholarships will be thrown open to competition in June. Two of these will be open to boys under 17 years of age, four to boys under 16, and four to boys under 11 years of age.

As the Scholarships open to boys under 17 and 16 years of age will be open for competition to successful candidates of 1866 and 1867 respectively, and as it is probable that the advantages which originally gave the latter their Scholarships will enable the most deserving to maintain a relatively high position in the forthcoming examination, it is trusted that the effect of the arrangement made by the Board will be to extend for a further period to such of these scholars as have shewn the greatest amount of intelligence and application, the advantages connected with the tenure of a Government Scholarship.
