YEAR ENDING MARCH, 1871.

Sir,
The Board of Education has the honour to present its Annual Report for the year 1870-71, according to the terms of "The Education Ordinance, 1864."
STATISTICS.
The total number of schools receiving aid from the Board, including two Superior Schools, is 65.
Since the date of the last Report, the Harewood (Oxford), and the Papanui Wesleyan Schools have ceased to exist. The former was in receipt of a special grant from the Board, and, in conjunction with the Oxford Church School, also assisted in a similar manner, afforded the means of education to the children in the neighbourhood of Oxford.
