HIS Honor the Superintendent directs
it to be notified that a Writ calling
for an Election to be held for the return of
a person to serve in the Provincial Council
as Member for the Lincoln District, has
been returned to him with the endorsement
that
ARTHUR CHARLES KNIGHT, Esq.,
has been duly elected.

IN exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by “The Diseased Cattle
Act Amendment Act, 1865,” I, Sir George
Ferguson Bowen, the Governor of New
Zealand, do hereby assent to the regulations
and prohibitory declarations contained in
two several Proclamations issued by William
Rolleston, Esquire, Superintendent of the
Province of Canterbury, dated respectively
the thirteenth day of February, one thousand
eight hundred and seventy-one, and
published consecutively in the New Zealand
Gazette on the eighteenth day of February,
one thousand eight hundred and seventy-
one.
Given under the hand of His Excellency
Sir George Ferguson Bowen,
Knight Grand Cross of the Most
Distinguished Order of St. Michael
and St. George, Governor and
Commander-in-Chief in and over
Her Majesty’s Colony of New
Zealand and its Dependencies, and
Vice-Admiral of the same; and
issued at Wellington, this thirty-
first day of March, in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred
and seventy-one.
