PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, entitled "The Bridges and Ferries Act 1868 Amendment Act, 1869," the Governor may from time to time, by Proclamation in the New Zealand Gazette, declare "The Bridges and Ferries Act, 1868," to be in operation in any Province, or in any District being part of a Province, to be defined in such Proclamation; and may, at the time of making such Proclamation, or at any time thereafter, delegate all or any of the powers by the said Act vested in him, and exercisable by him within the Province or District in such Proclamation mentioned, except the powers conferred by the 2nd section of the said Act to the Superintendent of the Province in which the said Act shall be so brought into operation:
And whereas the said Governor hath by Proclamation as aforesaid declared the said Act to be in operation in the Province of Canterbury, and hath delegated to William Rolleston, the Superintendent of the said Province, all the powers which by the said Amendment Act the Governor is authorised so to delegate:
Now therefore, I, William Rolleston, the Superintendent as aforesaid, in pursuance of the powers so vested in me, do hereby proclaim the Ferry established on the River Rakaia, in the Province of Canterbury, at a point thereof where the bridge over the said river is being erected, to be a public Ferry within the meaning of "The Bridges and Ferries Act, 1868."
Given under my hand this twenty-third day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy.

WHEREAS one Edward Harrington, of Akaroa, has claimed and requires a Crown Grant of a certain parcel of land, five acres in extent, situate in the Grehan Road, Akaroa, which said parcel of land was purchased by one Eugene Auguste Dufour from the Nanto Bordelaise Company, and is described as immediately adjoining on the west a parcel of land purchased by one Joseph Marie Le Tellier, from the Nanto Bordelaise Company: Notice is hereby given that I will hear the above-mentioned claim at the Office of Messrs. Harman and Stevens, Christchurch, on Tuesday, the 19th day of July next, at which time and place all persons having counter claims must attend, and produce their evidence of the same.
