PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS, by an Act bearing date the Eighth day of October, One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six, passed by the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, by and with the consent of the General Assembly, intituled "An Act to provide for the performance of the duties of Superintendents of Provinces of New Zealand during absence, and during vacancies in the Office," it is enacted, inter alia, that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent of any Province, by Proclamation to be published in the Government Gazette of such Province, to appoint such person as he may think fit, being a registered elector of such Province, to be his Deputy.

Now, therefore, I, William Rolleston, Superintendent of the Province of Canterbury, in the said Colony, in pursuance of the powers and authority in me vested do hereby appoint

Robert Heaton Rhodes, Esq.,

being a registered elector of the Province, to be Deputy Superintendent.

Given under my hand at Christchurch this Tenth day of May, One thousand eight hundred and seventy.
